Alma del Jaguar Nocturna is a bold, unfiltered, additive-free high-proof blanco tequila from the Feliciano Vivanco distillery (NOM 1414) in Arandas, Jalisco, bottled at 101 proof (50.5% ABV).
Named to honour the nightly hunting spirit of wild jaguars, it is part of a seasonal high-proof series, and a portion of proceeds supports wild jaguar conservation in Mexico and the United States. It is made from single-estate Los Altos agave slow-cooked in stone and brick ovens, crushed by roller mill for first-press free-run juice, and fermented in open-air tanks with agave fibres added for complexity.
Distilled twice in small copper pot stills and bottled unfiltered by hand at the source, it keeps its natural oils and seasonal character. Expect strong cooked agave, cinnamon, cinnamon candy and cracked black pepper, sweet and spicy on the palate, with a warm finish of cinnamon, pepper and sweet cooked agave.
A raw, overproof blanco built for purists, it makes a fine gift.
