Amor Mio Añejo Single Barrel is a limited-edition, small-batch tequila made from estate-grown 100% blue Weber agave and aged for more than 24 months in medium-toasted American oak barrels that previously held whiskey. Each bottling comes from a single hand-selected barrel, and it is bottled at 40% ABV.
It is crafted at the Tres Mujeres distillery under master distiller Alberto Partida, and presented in one of Amor Mio's decorative ceramic bottles, here in rich earthy browns with a raised agave design.
The tequila offers rich notes of vanilla, cinnamon and cooked agave, with the warmth of toasted oak.
The ceramic bottle makes it a beautiful gift and, once empty, a lovely decanter.
Sip it neat from a snifter.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
