Arak Fakra is a traditional Lebanese arak distilled from native grapes and top-quality aniseed and aged to maturity in clay jars, bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV).
Arak Fakra was born from an arak distillery founded in the early 18th century in Kfardebian, a mountain village of Mount Lebanon, by a noble Lebanese family whose members were consuls of France and Venice. Arak is Lebanon's national drink, and Fakra follows time-honored techniques and recipes passed down through generations.
It is produced by traditional multiple distillations of Obeidi and Merwah grapes with Hina aniseed, then left to age until mature in baked clay jars. The distillery is equipped with several traditional pot stills and numerous clay jars that give the arak its quality and character. It has won two consecutive Silver Medals at the MLSA Competition, in 2022 and 2024.
Rich and silky, it shows prominent notes of aniseed with a slight licorice taste, smooth and reminiscent of absinthe but with a softer finish. Like ouzo, raki or pastis, it turns cloudy white when water is added.
Each sip carries the spirit of Lebanon's mountain landscapes, where tradition and craftsmanship meet. Serve it the Lebanese way: one part arak to two parts cold water, then ice, alongside mezze such as small fresh fish, olives, feta and fries. At Fakra, great arak isn't a trophy to collect, but a treasure to share with family and friends.
