Nàdar is the world's first climate-positive gin, made from peas by Arbikie Highland Estate on the east coast of Scotland and bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV).
Meaning nature in Gaelic, Nàdar harnesses the power of nature and science. It was created by Arbikie Master Distiller Kirsty Black as her PhD project, after five years of research with Abertay University and the James Hutton Institute, and launched in 2020. Peas meet their own nitrogen needs without synthetic fertilizer, and each 700ml bottle has a carbon footprint of -1.54 kg CO2e, avoiding more emissions than it creates. Arbikie is an independently owned, family field-to-bottle distillery on a farm with 400 years of history, growing its peas and some botanicals on site.
With a pea-based spirit, Nàdar is silky smooth and creamy. Lemongrass and citrus leaf give a fresh, fruity aroma with bold citrus and savory greens, and the palate is smooth and refreshing with juniper, citrus fruit and earthy notes.
The leafy green script label makes it a meaningful gift for eco-minded drinkers.
