The Aviation Heritage Spirits C-17A Flying Knights is a straight bourbon whiskey bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof) in a hand-finished, aviation-themed bottle.
Its label honours the C-17A Globemaster III, the US Air Force heavy airlifter, under the McChord Reserves name.
Aviation Heritage Spirits builds custom, handmade aviation-themed bottles and fills them with straight bourbon.
The bottle is wrapped in riveted metal with the aircraft's silhouette, and it carries a red 'Remove Before Flight' streamer tied at the neck.
Each squadron edition carries its own name, here the Flying Knights, making it a keepsake for the crews, families and veterans who flew and maintained the Globemaster, and a striking display piece for any aviation enthusiast. As a straight bourbon, the whiskey inside is aged at least two years in new charred oak barrels.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
