The Azulejos Masterpiece Collection Añejo in the orange bottle is a 100% blue agave añejo tequila presented in a hand-painted bottle inspired by the work of Pablo Picasso, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Azulejos are the hand-painted tiles that have decorated Mexico's finest homes and haciendas for centuries, covering patios, benches, walls, fountains and kitchens, and they are a big part of the country's culture, heritage and architecture. The tequila brand takes its name and its spirit of craftsmanship from them.
The Masterpiece Collection began as a limited-edition collector's series in the fall of 2009. Its first collection presented six different paintings inspired by Picasso, arguably the most recognisable painter of the 20th century. Each bottle carries the same design on both sides and is hand-painted by Mexican artisans in Puebla, the home of Talavera ceramics. The orange edition features a vivid orange background with abstract cubist faces and bold geometric strokes.
Inside is an añejo made from 100% agave and aged in oak barrels for close to three years, giving the depth and warmth of a well-rested tequila.
A true piece of art for the bar, it is a striking gift for collectors of tequila and Mexican craft alike.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
