Balblair 15 Year Old is a Highland single malt matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks and then in first-fill Spanish oak butts, bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill-filtered and with natural colour.
Balblair, in Edderton on the Dornoch Firth, is one of Scotland's oldest distilleries, founded in 1790. The 15 Year Old is tropical and mature, with the texture of melted chocolate: round and velvety, yet developed and fresh.
The nose brings leatherwood honey and gingerbread, with juicy prunes and fresh lemon peel. On the palate come dark chocolate, tropical fruit and mixed spice, and the finish is long and mellow, with creamy vanilla and citrus.
Presented in an elegant gift box, it is a superb gift for lovers of sherried Highland malts.
Enjoy it neat or with a drop of water.
Scotch whisky must be distilled and matured in Scotland for at least three years in oak casks, and any age statement on the label refers to the youngest whisky in the bottle.
Spanish oak butts that once held sherry bring dried fruit, spice and a deeper colour to Balblair's naturally fruity spirit, and at fifteen years the two cask styles are beautifully integrated. Balblair is known for releasing its whiskies at well-judged ages that show the spirit at its best, and the 15 Year Old sits at the heart of the core range.
