Three Sheets was created by Ballast Point Spirits in San Diego, the craft distilling arm that later became Cutwater Spirits. The rum takes its name from the old sailor's phrase three sheets to the wind, and its label carries Ballast Point's nautical compass emblem and a ship's wheel.
The base is a pure cane sugar rum, infused with a proprietary blend of seven natural spices. It was designed to be a versatile rum that avoids the syrupy sweetness of many commercial spiced rums, relying on whole natural ingredients rather than artificial flavorings.
Expect vanilla, light caramel and brown sugar on the nose with a touch of citrus. The palate balances soft molasses sweetness with cinnamon and clove, and the finish is medium with lingering spice.
