Barrell Bourbon 12 Year French Oak is a limited release from Barrell Craft Spirits: a blend of 12-year-old straight bourbons from Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Wyoming, finished in French oak casks of distinct toast levels. It is bottled at cask strength, 108.5 proof, and was limited to 1,500 bottles released in September 2025.
Barrell is known for blending whiskeys from across the country and bottling them at full strength, and here the French oak finish adds a resinous, aromatic dimension to well-aged bourbon.
The nose brings pear brandy, pineapple and hazelnut praline, with hints of cinnamon and hot cocoa. On the palate come allspice, clove and nutmeg with sage, lavender and creamy vanilla, and the finish is long and evolving, with coffee cake, maraschino cherry and a peppery, earthy close.
Barrell's distinctive bottle with its red shield label makes it a fine gift for bourbon collectors.

Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
