Beluga Gold Line is the prestige expression of Beluga Noble Russian Vodka, bottled at 40% ABV and presented in a leather case with a small hammer for opening the wax-sealed cork. This is the large 1.75-litre format.
Beluga is made from a blend of malt spirit and artesian water, and Gold Line goes further than the rest of the range: instead of three rounds of filtering, it passes through five. The result is an exceptionally clean, smooth vodka designed for slow sipping.
The presentation is part of the ritual. The cork is sealed with wax, and the case holds a small wooden hammer with a metallic peen on one side for chipping away the wax and a brush on the other for sweeping away the residue. The bottle itself bears Beluga's metal sturgeon emblem.
In the 1.75-litre size, Gold Line is a spectacular centrepiece for a celebration, and it makes a memorable gift for a vodka connoisseur.
Serve it ice-cold in small glasses, as tradition dictates, with caviar or zakuski. Keep the bottle in the freezer for an hour or two before serving; good vodka thickens slightly when very cold, giving it a silky texture. The leather case and hammer make opening the bottle a small ceremony, so it is a wonderful choice for a toast at a wedding, a business celebration or New Year's Eve.
