Salizá Amaretto Veneziano is an amaretto from Bepi Tosolini, bottled at 28% ABV. Bepi Tosolini is a family distillery in Friuli, in north-eastern Italy, best known for its grappas.

Unlike most amarettos, which are made from an apricot kernel concentrate, Salizá is produced by re-distilling spirit with real crushed almonds.

This traditional method gives a more natural, authentic almond character than concentrates or extracts can.

In the glass it is rich and nutty, with toasted almond, marzipan and a gentle caramel sweetness. It was formerly known as Mascarada Amaretto Veneziano, and its Venetian carnival mask label nods to that heritage.

It is a beautiful bottle and a classic after-dinner gift for anyone who loves Italian liqueurs.

How to Enjoy It

Salizá makes a superb Amaretto Sour: shake it with fresh lemon juice, a little simple syrup and an egg white, and serve over ice with a cherry. Enjoy it neat or over ice after dinner, stir it with Scotch for a Godfather or with vodka for a Godmother, or add it to hot coffee with a spoon of whipped cream. Pour it over vanilla gelato, use it to soak the sponge in tiramisu, or bake it into almond cakes and biscotti. Pair it with amaretti cookies, dark chocolate or a cheese plate with aged Asiago. In winter, warm it gently with apple cider and a cinnamon stick, or add a splash to hot chocolate. Keep the bottle in a cool, dark place after opening.
