Breckenridge Gin is a Colorado gin from Breckenridge Distillery, made with Rocky Mountain water and a blend of botanicals including juniper, coriander, cardamom, lavender, hibiscus and citrus, bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV).
Breckenridge Distillery sits high in the Colorado Rockies in the ski town of Breckenridge and calls itself the world's highest distillery, at about 9,600 feet. Its gin is labeled Colorado Gin with Rocky Mountain Water, and the fresh, mineral-rich snowmelt water is part of the spirit's character.
The gin starts from 100% neutral spirits distilled from grain. Its botanicals, including juniper, coriander, cardamom, lavender, hibiscus and citrus, are combined through maceration and gin basket distillation in a custom-built copper pot still, which draws out both bold and delicate flavors.
Expect bright juniper and citrus on the nose with floral hints of lavender and hibiscus. The palate is crisp and spicy with coriander and cardamom, and the finish is clean and refreshing.
Breckenridge Gin is a natural fit for classic cocktails. Mix a Gin and Tonic with a twist of grapefruit or lime, stir a dry Martini, or shake a Gimlet with fresh lime. Its floral notes shine in an Aviation or a Bee's Knees with honey and lemon, and a Negroni shows off its spice. For a mountain-style highball, top it with soda water, fresh cucumber and a sprig of rosemary. Pair it with smoked trout, grilled vegetables, goat cheese or a light summer salad. It is a great gift for skiers, hikers and anyone who loves Colorado craft spirits, and a bottle that tastes of the high country.
