Brugal Maestro Reserva is a premium Dominican rum aged in American oak sherry casks that are toasted between fills using Brugal's Dark Aromatic Toasting technique. It is bottled at 41.2% ABV with no added sweeteners, colours or additives.
Brugal, one of the great rum houses of the Dominican Republic, developed Dark Aromatic Toasting to coax more flavour from its casks. Between fills, the casks are toasted to caramelise the wood's natural sugars, creating what the house calls caramel pearls, which the rum then draws out during maturation. Maestro Reserva joined Brugal's permanent range to showcase the technique.
On the nose come vanilla, caramel and toasted nuts, with oak, red fruit, honey and a light smoky note. The palate brings caramel, mango and dried fruit, dark chocolate, orange peel and cinnamon spice, and the finish is smooth and warm, with lingering sweetness and oak.
The elegant, squared bottle with its deep blue capsule and embossed shield is a handsome addition to any bar, and it makes a refined gift for a rum lover.
