Bulleit Bourbon Bottled in Bond is a high-rye Kentucky straight bourbon and the first Bulleit bourbon distilled and aged entirely at the Bulleit Distilling Co. in Shelbyville, Kentucky, bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) under Bottled-in-Bond standards.
For years, Bulleit was known as the bartender's bourbon: dependable, affordable and built for mixing. In 2017, as the brand celebrated its 30th anniversary, Bulleit opened a new, state-of-the-art distillery in Shelbyville, and this release marks a milestone: a bourbon made entirely from Bulleit's own distillate, from still to warehouse to bottle.
As a Bottled-in-Bond bourbon, it is the product of a single distilling season at a single distillery, aged at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse and bottled at exactly 100 proof. It is crafted from Bulleit's signature high-rye mash bill, and its launch, guided by Diageo lead whiskey blender Delicia James, adds a meaningful new chapter to the brand's story.
Bold, balanced and crafted with care, it is a little less spicy than classic Bulleit and leans toward traditional bonded bourbon, with mellow heat and a balanced rye punch. The finish is medium, with dry oak, vanilla and black pepper lingering alongside a hint of tannin.
Enjoy it neat or on the rocks, or let its 100 proof carry an Old Fashioned, a Manhattan or a Whiskey Sour.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
