Bushwood Long Ball Barrel Proof is a 7-year single barrel straight Kentucky bourbon, an extremely limited release bottled at barrel proof, here 121.2 proof (60.6% ABV).
Long Ball has become a go-to bourbon for many whiskey aficionados since its release in early 2022, and two years later Bushwood presented this barrel-proof single barrel version to take it to the next level. The mash bill is 70% corn, 21% rye and 9% malted barley, and proof varies from barrel to barrel, generally around 120.
It shows a deep, rich mahogany. The nose brings toasted caramel, butterscotch candies and soft oak, the first sip has a smooth, creamy honey texture, and the medium to long finish carries butterscotch and vanilla.
A golf-inspired single barrel bourbon, it makes a fun gift for golfers and bourbon fans.
Sip it neat, then add a few drops of water.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
Barrel proof means the bourbon is bottled at the strength it came out of the barrel, without being diluted, so a few drops of water let you open it up to your own taste.
