Cabo Wabo Reposado is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila rested at least two months in American oak barrels, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Cabo Wabo was founded in 1996 by rock musician Sammy Hagar. The reposado is built on the same adobe-oven-baked, double pot-distilled agave as the blanco, crafted for bold agave flavor, then rested in oak to develop a golden hue and rounded vanilla and light wood character while keeping the agave clearly present.
Gold in color, it has a scent of citrus and cooked agave with vanilla, and a bit of fruit and spicy pepper that lingers after each sip. It stands up in any drink and tastes just as good on the rocks.
Its round-shouldered bottle with the bold new label makes it a fun gift for rock and tequila fans.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
