Calirosa Rosa Blanco is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila from Jalisco, rested for one month in prized California red wine barrels for its signature pink glow, and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
While most tequilas age in whiskey barrels, Calirosa uses red wine barrels sourced from esteemed California wineries. The tequila is handmade in Jalisco by Don Roberto and Don Fernando Real with master distiller Luis Trejo Rodriguez, a third-generation tequila maker. The 30-day rest gives a smooth taste, refreshing red berry notes and the rosa color. It earned 95 points from Drinkhacker and 93 from The Tasting Panel.
Fresh agave mingles with citrus, strawberry, floral and pepper notes on the nose. The palate is smooth, vibrant and lightly fruity, with red berry, honey and vanilla and a touch of spice, and the finish is crisp and refreshing.
The blush-pink bottle makes it an eye-catching gift.
Blanco tequila is bottled unaged or rested for less than two months, so it shows the agave at its purest: bright, peppery and fresh. It is the classic choice for margaritas and palomas, and a good blanco is just as rewarding sipped neat.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
