Cascahuín Plata 48 is an additive-free, high-proof blanco tequila from Destilería Cascahuín (NOM 1123) in El Arenal, Jalisco, bottled at 96 proof (48% ABV) without dilution or filtration.
It is made by maestro tequilero Salvador Rosales Torres from 100% mature Blue Weber agave, slow-roasted in traditional brick ovens and fermented in a mix of stainless steel and brick and concrete tanks. The tequila is double distilled in stainless steel pot stills with copper coils and bottled at full still strength, capturing the whole essence of the agave for a vibrant, bold flavour.
The aroma brings fresh cooked agave, herbal notes, white pepper, citrus rind, mint and light minerality. The palate is intensely agave-forward and full-bodied, with roasted agave, green agave, black pepper, thyme and green herbs, saline minerality and subtle floral notes, leading to a long, dry finish.
