Castle & Key Sacred Spring is a small-batch Kentucky vodka distilled from the distillery's bourbon mash and proofed with limestone-rich water from its historic springhouse, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Castle & Key Distillery was established in 2014 on the historic grounds of the Old Taylor Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. Sacred Spring takes its name from the limestone-rich water source at the heart of the distillery's grounds, and it is crafted from grain to glass on site, a celebration of purity, balance and precision.
Rather than a neutral base, Sacred Spring leans into the cereal richness of Castle & Key's classic bourbon mash: 73% white corn from Walnut Grove Farm in Adairville, Kentucky, 10% rye and 17% malted barley. It is distilled on site with copper column and pot stills, proofed with the springhouse water, which adds minerality, and left non-chill filtered to keep its full flavor. It has earned gold and silver medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The aroma is light and sweet, with hints of cashew and citrus. The palate is clean, with citrus notes followed by vanilla bean and a hint of buttered multigrain toast, and a silky, unctuous softness throughout.
Versatile in cocktails and a respectable sipper, it is a whiskey drinker's vodka. Serve it well chilled, or stir it into a Martini or a Moscow Mule.
