Catalina Rum Company draws its inspiration from the rum-running history of Catalina Island, off the Southern California coast, and its label shows a seabird over the island waters. The rum is distilled and bottled by the award-winning R6 Distillery in El Segundo, a family-owned distillery founded in 2014 by head distiller Rob Rubens. The rum was first bottled exclusively for Bluewater Grill's seafood restaurants before becoming available to other bars and restaurants.
Made from molasses in the traditional Caribbean style, the dark rum is aged three years in charred oak barrels, which give it its deep sweetness and warm spice, with a balanced, additive-free character.
Rich and full-bodied, it is smooth and slightly sweet, with notes of vanilla, caramel and tropical fruit over warm baking spice.
