Catoctin Creek Ragnarök Rye Oderus Edition is a limited 100% rye whisky from Virginia, created with the heavy metal band GWAR to honour its late frontman Oderus Urungus, and bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV).
Catoctin Creek ages its 100% rye with white oak, sugar maple and cherrywood, and for this edition adds a rum-finished barrel to the blend. The label art was drawn by Dave Brockie, who played Oderus Urungus, and the bottle is crowned with a commemorative pewter top. The release was limited to around 200 cases.
The combination of rye spice, the soft sweetness of maple and cherrywood and a touch of rum-cask richness gives a bold, characterful whisky fit for its namesake.
With Brockie's artwork and the sculpted pewter top, it is a true collector's piece for whiskey and metal fans alike.
