Chairman's Reserve Legacy is an aged Saint Lucian rum from St. Lucia Distillers that blends molasses-based rums with fresh sugarcane juice distillate, bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV) in a 700ml bottle.
Legacy is a tribute to Laurie Barnard, the Chairman of St. Lucia Distillers, who created the Chairman's Reserve brand, first blended in 1999. While other distilleries bought column stills to boost production, he invested in eclectic barrel types, small pot stills, a proprietary yeast strain and sugarcane, believing the best rum comes from blending different components. Legacy adds sugarcane juice distillate to the traditional molasses rums, a nod to the cane he grew around the distillery to isolate Chairman's Reserve's signature yeast. It is made at Saint Lucia's last remaining distillery, in Roseau, under the Saint Lucia Rum Geographical Indication.
Legacy brings rums of different styles and ages, including the fresh cane juice distillate, together into one layered aged rum, true to Laurie Barnard's belief in the art of blending.
