Chamucos Blanco is an additive-free, 100% Blue Weber agave tequila made from mature agave grown in both Los Altos and the Tequila Valley, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Chamucos was founded in 1997 by Mexican film director Antonio Urrutia, alongside a caricaturist and a young entrepreneur. A chamuco, in Mexican folklore, is a mischievous little devil, impish rather than menacing, and the labels are inspired by the legendary satirical caricaturist José Guadalupe Posada. The tequila is made at NOM 1586.
Combining highland brightness with lowland minerality, the agave is fermented with natural yeast and distilled in small batches to preserve its pure character. With no sweeteners, flavorings or colorings, Chamucos Blanco delivers an authentic, clean and vibrant expression of agave.
Its illustrated label makes it a playful, conversation-starting gift.
Blanco tequila is bottled unaged or rested for less than two months, so it shows the agave at its purest: bright, peppery and fresh. It is the classic choice for margaritas and palomas, and a good blanco is just as rewarding sipped neat.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
