Chinaco Reposado is a distinctive reposado tequila from Tamaulipas, Mexico, made from 100% Azul Weber Tequilana agave and aged 11 months, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Unlike most tequila brands, which are produced in Jalisco, Chinaco is distilled in Tamaulipas at Tequilera la Gonzaleña, giving the bottle a unique identity within the category. This reposado rests for 11 months in 35-year-old French and English white oak barrels that previously held Scotch whisky. That extended rest adds a gentle woody character while keeping the tequila bright, fresh and agave-driven.
The result is a smooth reposado with pear, pineapple, citrus zest, peach, apple, dill, quince, cinnamon, spearmint and soft oak spice, striking a strong balance between barrel influence and fresh agave.
From one of tequila's most distinctive houses, it makes a fine gift.
Sip it neat, or use it in a refined tequila cocktail.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
