Chinaco Añejo is a certified additive-free tequila from Tamaulipas, one of the few tequilas made outside Jalisco, aged 30 months in 35-year-old French and English white oak Scotch barrels as well as American bourbon barrels, and bottled at 40% ABV.
Chinaco embodies the legacy of the historic La Gonzaleña distillery (NOM 1127), tracing its origins to General Manuel González, President of Mexico from 1880 to 1884 and a hero of the Cinco de Mayo battle. It is the only tequila brand produced in the northern state of Tamaulipas.
The result is a remarkably smooth and rich complexity, to be savoured like a fine cognac. It offers subtle aromas of pear, wildflowers, vanilla, smoke and baked apple, edged with papaya and mango. The flavours are rich and complex, with exceptional depth, balance and style, ending in a luscious, spicy, smoky finish.

Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
