Chopin Wheat is a single-ingredient Polish vodka made from 100% winter wheat grown in the fertile Podlasie countryside, quadruple distilled and blended with artesian well water, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) in a one-liter bottle.
Chopin was one of the first vodkas to make the case that vodka should taste like what it's made from. Instead of chasing neutrality, the family-owned distillery in Krzesk, in Poland's eastern Podlasie region, makes three single-ingredient vodkas: potato, rye and wheat. The distillery dates back to the 19th century, and Chopin Wheat joined the original potato vodka in 2011. Ingredients are cultivated from farm to bottle and distilled using simple methods handed down through six centuries.
The lightest of the trio, the wheat vodka is elegant and approachable, with a floral bouquet and a delicate bread-dough nose. Hints of honey and vanilla bean on the front palate give way to a full, creamy mouthfeel and slight notes of butterscotch, with a clean, balanced finish and a touch of white pepper.
A smooth vodka to enjoy chilled or in a Martini.
Chopin has elevated Poland's national spirit to an art form, and the passion Frédéric Chopin conveyed in his music is meant to be captured in every bottle of his namesake vodka. Of the three single-ingredient vodkas, the potato is creamy and earthy and the rye spicy and crisp, while the wheat is the softest and most delicate.
