Chula Parranda Añejo is a 100% agave tequila from Jalisco with a golden amber colour and vanilla warmth, bottled at 40% ABV.
Chula Parranda, meaning a lovely party, is known for its decorative bottles and celebratory spirit. The añejo is made under NOM 1258 (previously 1466).
The nose shows medium oak wood, vanilla and raisins, with a faint hint of citrus. The palate is led by distinct oak wood complemented by vanilla, raisins and honey, with a hint of melon, and the finish brings caramel and smoky notes.
The decanter-style bottle with its red label makes it a festive gift.
Sip it neat from a snifter.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
Chula Parranda's bottles are designed for celebration, and the añejo is meant to be shared slowly among friends, poured neat into small glasses so its oak and honey can open in the air.
