Cincoro Añejo is an ultra-premium añejo tequila from the Jalisco brand founded by five NBA team owners, here in a generous 1.75-litre bottle. It begins as Cincoro Blanco and is aged 24 to 28 months in used American whiskey barrels before resting in an underground cellar. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
Cincoro takes its name from cinco, five, and oro, gold, for the five founders who came together to create it. The añejo's long rest in whiskey barrels gives it a deep amber colour and a rich, rounded character.
On the nose come cooked agave, toasted oak, maple and caramel. The palate brings butterscotch, orange peel, dried fruit, cinnamon and dark chocolate with a hint of cocoa, and the finish is smooth, with butter, dried fruit and gentle vanilla.
The tall, slender bottle with its sweeping gold-tinted base is one of the most recognisable in tequila, and in this large format it is made for celebrations and for sharing. It makes a standout gift and a centrepiece for any home bar, and with more than twice the volume of a standard bottle, it goes a long way around a table of friends.
