Cincoro Añejo is the signature expression of Cincoro Tequila, a 100% blue Weber agave añejo aged 24 to 28 months in American white oak in an underground cellar and bottled at 40% ABV.
Cincoro was founded by five NBA team owners, including Michael Jordan, Jeanie Buss, Wes Edens, Emilia Fazzalari and Marc Lasry; the name joins cinco, five, and oro, gold. Its tequila blends highland and lowland agave from Jalisco, combining the fruitier sweetness of highland agave with the earthier, herbaceous character of the lowlands, and is double distilled in small batches.
Aging well beyond the one-year minimum for an añejo, in an underground cellar, deepens the interaction between barrel and tequila. It pours an intense amber with copper overtones, with toasted oak, maple, wood and dried fruit on the nose.
The palate brings sweet cooked agave and baking spices, with orange, fig and date and hints of caramel and butterscotch. The finish is remarkably long and elegant, with lingering dark chocolate. The añejo was named Añejo Tequila of the Year at the New York International Spirits Competition.
Its sculpted, gold-tipped bottle makes it a striking gift. Sip it neat or use it in a classic cocktail.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
