Cocalero Clásico is a South American-inspired herbal spirit made in Ireland with 17 botanicals including coca leaf, juniper, guarana, ginseng and ginger, bottled at 58 proof (29% ABV).
Cocalero takes its name from the cocaleros, the traditional coca leaf farmers of the Andes. The spirit is distilled in Dublin, Ireland, with many of its botanicals sourced from South America, and its vivid green color and ornate label make it instantly recognizable.
Cocalero blends coca leaf with 16 other botanicals, including juniper, guarana, orange peel, ginseng, ginger, green tea and lavender. The coca leaf is treated with a specialised steam distillation process pioneered by the perfume industry, so it contributes flavor and aroma only.
Expect fresh herbal and citrus notes on the nose with hints of juniper, a lightly sweet palate of green tea, ginger and orange peel, and a clean, herbal finish.
Cocalero is made for mixing. Serve it over ice with ginger ale and a wedge of lime, or top it with tonic for a herbal highball. It also works as an ice-cold shot, in a twist on a Mojito, or with lemonade and fresh mint. Pair it with ceviche, empanadas, grilled chicken or spicy snacks. Its electric green color makes it a fun, conversation-starting bottle for parties and a unique gift for adventurous drinkers. For a crowd, fill a pitcher with Cocalero, ginger ale, fresh lime wedges and plenty of ice, or set out tonic, lemonade and fresh mint so guests can build their own bright green highballs.
