Coconut Cartel Special is a single-origin Guatemalan añejo rum aged 4 to 12 years in new charred American white oak, then cut to 80 proof (40% ABV) with freshly harvested coconut water.
It was inspired by a favorite drink: a fresh coconut right off the tree, spiked with aged rum. Sugarcane syrup is distilled in a traditional copper column still at a single distillery, aged in new charred oak, and brought down from cask strength using locally grown coconut water in Guatemala. The coconut water's natural minerality balances the blend for an extra smooth, refreshing rum. It is not a sweet rum, with no artificial flavors or added coloring.
Tropical aromas of fresh coconut meet banana, mango and vanilla. On the palate come plantain, caramel, sandalwood and burnt brown sugar, with a subtle coconut note, a flint of minerality and a touch of saltiness from the coconut water.
