Código 1530 Añejo Double Cask is a single barrel selection of Código's añejo tequila, finished in both Napa Valley Cabernet French white oak barrels and sherry casks. It is made from 100% Lowlands blue agave in Amatitán, Jalisco, and bottled at 40% ABV.
Código 1530's añejo is a private recipe refined over many generations by an artisan distilling family in Amatitán. The core añejo rests for 18 months in French white oak barrels that previously held Napa Cabernet, and the Double Cask releases add a second finish in sherry casks. Because each is drawn from a single barrel, every selection has its own character.
The añejo is amber in the glass, with vanilla, butterscotch, caramel and oak on the nose alongside honey and light fruit. The palate begins with caramel and brown sugar, then cinnamon, vanilla cream and soft oak, with hints of fruit and spice, and the finish is smooth and delicate, with lingering sweetness.
The tall, elegant bottle bears Código's cross emblem, and the single barrel release makes it a special find for Código fans.
It is a refined sipping tequila and a thoughtful gift for anyone who enjoys wine-finished spirits.
