The Código 1530 George Strait Encore Edition Añejo honours George Strait's Honky Tonk Time Machine album, the second in an ongoing series of limited collaborations between the country music legend and the brand. It is a 100% blue Weber agave añejo, aged 18 months in Napa Valley Cabernet French white oak barrels and bottled at 40% ABV.
Long before Código 1530 Añejo had a name on a bottle, George Strait was already drinking it: a private, unlabelled tequila he enjoyed for years before it ever reached shelves. He liked it so much he wrote a song about it. As he puts it, if it's not your favourite, you haven't tried it.
The añejo is a private recipe refined over many generations by an artisan distilling family in Amatitán. Eighteen months in wine-seasoned French oak make it refined, elegant and expressive, with hints of fruit mingled with oak, touches of vanilla and a bit of spice.
A limited edition for country music fans and tequila lovers alike, it is a memorable gift.
Enjoy it neat, on the rocks, or in a tequila Old Fashioned.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
