Código 1530 Rosa is Código Blanco rested for one month in uncharred French white oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon barrels, which gives it a natural blush and delicate wine character. It is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Código 1530 follows time-honored customs with no added chemicals, flavorings or sweeteners, using only fully matured Blue Weber agave from Los Bajos and Amatitán water from freshwater pools and rainwater filtered through volcanic soil.
One month is a precise resting period: long enough for the Cabernet barrels to enrich the natural agave flavor with a blush of berry and floral wine notes, but not long enough to make it a reposado or let the wine take over. The result keeps the elegant, pure agave of an unaged tequila.
Its rosy color makes it a beautiful gift and a striking pour.
Blanco tequila is bottled unaged or rested for less than two months, so it shows the agave at its purest: bright, peppery and fresh. It is the classic choice for margaritas and palomas, and a good blanco is just as rewarding sipped neat.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
