Compass Box Orchard House is a fresh, fruity blended malt Scotch whisky built around some of Scotland's fruitiest single malts, bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV), non-chill filtered with natural color.
Orchard House is Compass Box's signature blend and the perfect introduction to its whiskies. It is made from five single malts and nine parcels of whisky, chosen for the flavor profiles each distillery brings: Linkwood adds juicy pear, apple blossom and vanilla, while Clynelish adds crisp apple, honey and a waxy texture. Together they create a flavor no single distillery could make alone, and it was among Compass Box's first blended malts composed almost entirely of spirit bought as new make and laid down in specific casks.
It is fruity and vibrant, with apple, pear, honey, vanilla shortbread and gentle spice over a subtle waxy note, finishing smooth with a hint of peat.
The illustrated orchard label makes it a beautiful gift.
Scotch whisky must be distilled and matured in Scotland for at least three years in oak casks, and any age statement on the label refers to the youngest whisky in the bottle.
A blended malt combines single malts from several distilleries, with no grain whisky.
Natural color and no chill filtration keep the whisky's full character.
Serve it neat in a Glencairn glass.
A splash of water opens up the fruit.
Try a Highball with chilled soda and an apple slice.
It is a great introduction to Scotch for new drinkers.
