Crater Lake Reserve Dry Gin is a citrus-forward New American dry gin from Crater Lake Spirits in Oregon, distilled from corn with hand-picked Central Oregon juniper, coriander, Seville orange, glazed orange and grapefruit peel, and bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV).
Crater Lake Spirits made its name in Bend, Oregon, and its flagship Crater Lake Gin is a single-botanical recreation of the lost gins of the past, made with wild, hand-picked juniper from Oregon's high desert. The Reserve Dry Gin was created to be something completely different from that flagship: if the Prohibition Gin is a nod to the speakeasy, the Reserve is the standout of cocktail hour.
Dry gins have long been synonymous with London, but new American dry gins have redefined the paradigm, and this is one of them. The distillers weave together whole-berry wild juniper with coriander, bitter Seville orange peel, sweet glazed orange peel and grapefruit peel, giving the gin bright floral aspects and a sweet citrus finish.
It is refreshing, crisp and innovative: high-desert juniper on the nose, softened by citrus zest and a hint of coriander, opening into a smooth, layered palate. At 90 proof the botanicals stay vivid in a cocktail.
Distilled from corn, it is gluten-free and Oregon Kosher certified, and it has earned Gold at the SIP Awards. A Martini gin with real personality.
