Cream of Kentucky Straight Rye Bottled in Bond is a 100% Rymin rye whiskey, estate grown, distilled, aged and bottled at Kentucky Artisan Distillery in Crestwood, Kentucky. It is aged six years and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV).
Limited to only 70 barrels, this one-of-a-kind release for Cream of Kentucky carries a special thank-you to a dear, late friend of the whole Kentucky whiskey family, Stephen Thomas of Kentucky Artisan Distillery. Rymin is a rye variety, and growing it on the estate means every step from field to bottle happens in one place.
The nose offers spearmint, cinnamon, brown sugar, black pepper, light cayenne, florals and light fruit of raisin and plum, with a hint of pipe tobacco. The palate brings cinnamon, black pepper and anise, and the finish is mellow and medium, with black pepper, cayenne, allspice and light raisin.
A rare estate rye, it makes a fine gift for rye collectors.
American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.
Straight rye whiskey must be made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged at least two years in new charred oak; a 100% rye mash gives the fullest spice.
Bottled in Bond means one distiller, one distillery, one distilling season, at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse and bottling at exactly 100 proof.
