Creyente Mezcal Joven is a velvety artisanal mezcal blending 100% Espadín agave from two distinct regions of Oaxaca, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Creyente means believer in Spanish, a nod to the brand's philosophy that anything is achievable through craft and curiosity. The mezcal combines Espadín from Tlacolula, known for rich, fertile soils at lower altitude, with Espadín from the rugged, untamed mountains of Yautepec, creating a paradoxical and captivating balance of contrasting terroirs and a more complex, layered profile than single-region Espadín.
The nose offers earth-pit smoke, roasted agave, herbs and the mineral character of mountain-grown Espadín. The palate is velvety and smooth, with smoke and earthy depth.
The illustrated jaguar label makes it a beautiful gift.
Mezcal is made by roasting agave hearts, traditionally in earthen pits, then crushing, fermenting and distilling them, a process that gives the spirit its characteristic smoky depth. Each agave variety and each village brings its own character, which is why enthusiasts love exploring small-batch bottlings.
Mezcal and other agave spirits are traditionally sipped from a copita or a small clay cup, in small sips, often alongside orange slices dusted with sal de gusano. Many are made in tiny batches by individual families, so each bottle is a snapshot of a particular place, agave and season.
Espadín is the most widely used agave for mezcal, prized for balanced sweetness and smoke.
Blending agave from two regions lets each terroir contribute its own character.
Serve it at room temperature in a copita to let the aromas open.
