Cruzan Single Barrel is a premium extra aged rum from St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, a blend of vintage rums aged five to twelve years, married in a single cask and bottled one cask at a time at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Cruzan is based in St. Croix and has been operated by the Nelthropp family since the early 1800s, one of the Caribbean's most respected and historic rum producers. Single Barrel is one of the most awarded aged rums on the market, part of the Distiller's Collection.
The rum is a hand-crafted blend of vintage rums aged 5 to 12 years, which is then mingled and aged a second time in a single new American white oak barrel before being bottled one cask at a time. You can't hurry quality, and the second maturation produces a smooth yet complex sipping rum.
Round, soft and gentle, it is medium to full bodied with a buttery mouthfeel. Expect a balanced blend of caramel sweetness and oak, with tropical fruit and vanilla, and a long, warm, buttery finish.
