It is crafted as a salute to Captain William "Bill" McCoy, who smuggled Cutty Sark into America during Prohibition in the 1920s. McCoy was known for not dealing with the mob and for providing the finest, unadulterated spirits. Cutty Sark itself was founded in 1923 by Berry Bros. & Rudd in London, named after the famous tea clipper and formulated to be lighter in color and character than the heavier blends of the era. Prohibition Edition was introduced in 2013.
