Cutwater Rayador Reposado is a 100% blue agave tequila made in Tequila, Jalisco, and aged in Cutwater's own whiskey barrels, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
The agave is harvested in Jalisco, slow cooked in traditional brick ovens, open fermented and double distilled in traditional alambique stills of stainless steel and copper. The spirit then rests in Cutwater whiskey barrels before it is bottled in Jalisco. The label features the hand-drawn skull of a Rayador, the Black Skimmer sea bird, inspired by classic Mexican folk imagery and a nod to the Cutwater name.
Light golden in color, it lets rich cooked agave meld with hints of vanilla and oak, with restrained barrel influence that keeps the profile clean and versatile.
Smooth enough to sip and balanced for cocktails.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
