DeLeón Reposado is a luxury highland tequila, gently aged in bold American oak and then finished in delicate French oak wine casks, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
DeLeón is made from the finest 100% highland blue Weber agave, hand-selected at peak ripeness from the rich, iron-heavy earth of the Los Altos region of Jalisco, and slow-roasted in traditional clay ovens. The reposado rests for about eight months in American white oak before moving to French oak wine casks, a dual-cask approach that gives it a strikingly defined character and the ideal flavor complexity and rich aromatics.
Cinnamon and butterscotch show on the nose with sweet agave, citrus and light oak, and the palate is balanced, with gentle oak, caramel, spice and dried fruit. The finish brings vanilla, dried fruit and a hint of spice.
The definition of smooth.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
