Delta Dirt Tall Cotton Gin is a farm-to-bottle gin from Delta Dirt Distillery in Helena, Arkansas, made from grains the family grows in the rich soils of the Arkansas Delta, and bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV).
Delta Dirt is owned and operated by Harvey and Donna Williams and their family, whose roots in Phillips County, Arkansas, run four generations deep. "Papa" Joe Williams sharecropped the original 86 acres in the late 1800s, and today the family turns crops grown on that farm, along the Mississippi River in some of the richest soil in the country, into award-winning spirits. Son Thomas is the master distiller.
The distillery opened its doors in April 2021 in historic downtown Helena, on Cherry Street, with its original sweet potato vodka and the motto "Raise Spirits in the Delta." In 2022 it unveiled Tall Cotton Gin. Its spirits have been featured in the docuseries Distilled, and the distillery took home a platinum medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
As the family puts it, to make a great gin you have to get your hands dirty. Because the distillery grows its own grains, you can taste the Delta in this handmade gin: an authentic gin built on a home-grown base.
At 92 proof it has the backbone for a Martini or a Negroni, and it makes a crisp Gin & Tonic or a Tom Collins on a hot Southern afternoon.
