Dented Brick Limited Edition Barrel Finished Straight Rye Whiskey is a 100% rye whiskey from Salt Lake City, aged at least two years in new oak and then finished in a former-fill cabernet barrel. It is bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV).
Dented Brick works grain to glass: the rye is milled, mashed, fermented and distilled in-house at the Salt Lake City distillery. The whiskey is matured for a minimum of two years in new oak barrels, where it builds a backbone of spice, caramel and oak, and is then laid to rest in a cabernet barrel for a secondary finish. It is brought to proof with artesian, limestone-filtered water from the Rocky Mountains.
The result is a rye infused with the essence of fine red wine. Tanned leather and oak lead the nose; the palate brings plum, cinnamon, clove and a hint of cherry; and the long, satisfying finish carries cinnamon and red wine.
Each limited-edition bottle has its bottle number, barrel finish and batch number written by hand on the label, a nice touch for a gift or a shelf of craft whiskey.
American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.
