Dewar's Double Double 27 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky created through Dewar's four-stage ageing process and finished in Palo Cortado sherry casks. Bottled at 46% ABV in a 375ml bottle, it is non-chill filtered with no added colouring.
The Double Double process returns the whisky to barrel four separate times. Malt and grain whiskies are aged and blended separately, then married, then brought together and returned to cask once more, before a final finish. For the 27 Year Old, that finish is in Palo Cortado sherry casks, a rare style of sherry that brings heady floral notes and honeyed fruit.
Floral and citrus aromas rise over honey, creamy caramel, ripe apricot and fig, with toasted almonds, cinnamon and citrus peel. Toffee, crème caramel and cigar-box oak join a zesty lemon note and the faintest wisp of smoke, and the finish is super silky and smooth, with honeyed stone fruit and oak.
The compact 375ml bottle makes such an old whisky easier to open and share, and it carries Dewar's classic label marked with the age and the words Double Double Aged for Ultimate Smoothness.
It is a refined gift for a whisky lover and a great way to taste a long-aged blend.
