Dios Azul Añejo is an estate-grown 100% blue agave tequila produced at NOM 1477 in Jalisco, matured in Napa Valley wine barrels and bottled at 40% ABV.
It undergoes custom double-barrel maturation, a balance of traditional agave distillation and innovative aging, creating a rich, velvety texture designed for slow, neat sipping.
Its colour is a darker, richer brown, and the palate carries profound, complex notes of chocolate, tobacco and coffee.
In its slender, sculpted bottle, it is an elegant gift for tequila lovers.
Sip it neat, slowly, at room temperature.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
Finishing tequila in wine barrels is a newer practice: the wood carries traces of the wine, adding dark fruit, tannin and colour to the agave. Combined with traditional distillation, it makes an añejo that sits naturally alongside fine whiskey and cognac.
