Don Julio Reposado is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila from the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, rested for eight months in American white oak barrels and bottled at 40% ABV, here in the 1.75-litre format.
It is the first aged expression in the Don Julio core range, made at La Primavera distillery. The agave is slow cooked and the tequila double distilled to preserve clarity and agave character before its eight-month rest, a longer time than many reposados, which develops a smooth, rounded profile with subtle oak while keeping the fresh, vibrant agave core of the Don Julio house style.
It offers cooked agave with citrus and light stone fruit, then vanilla, caramel and gentle baking spice, soft oak and subtle dried fruit, finishing smooth and warm with balanced sweetness.
The large format makes it ideal for gatherings and premium cocktails.
Enjoy it neat, on the rocks, or in a reposado margarita.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
