Don Pipocho Extra Añejo Chaquira is a 100% agave extra añejo tequila presented in a hand-crafted ceramic decanter covered in vibrant chaquira beadwork. Aged at least three years in oak, it is bottled at 40% ABV.
Chaquira is the Mexican art of decorating objects with tiny glass beads, pressed one by one into a wax base to form intricate patterns. On this decanter, the beads cover the body in bold diamonds and zigzags of blue, yellow, green and orange, and at the top sits Don Pipocho himself, a small figure in a wide sombrero and serape. Every piece is decorated by hand, so each bottle is a little different.
Inside is an extra añejo aged in oak for at least three years, the minimum for the category, which gives it a deep amber colour and a smooth, rounded character. Notes of honey, oak and vanilla lead the way, making it a gentle, sweet sipping tequila.
Don Pipocho's ceramic bottles are made by Mexican artisans. It is a true piece of folk art as well as a bottle of tequila, a striking centrepiece for a bar shelf and a memorable gift for a collector of Mexican craft.
