Don Pipocho Extra Añejo is a tequila aged at least three years in oak, presented in a hand-crafted white ceramic decanter painted with blue flowers and crowned by Don Pipocho himself, a small figure in a wide sombrero and serape seated beside the bottle's neck. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
Don Pipocho's ceramic bottles are made by Mexican artisans, and the white and blue edition echoes the classic cobalt-on-white palette of Mexican Talavera pottery. Because each piece is finished by hand, every decanter is a little different.
Inside is an extra añejo aged in oak for at least three years, the minimum for the category, which gives it a deep amber colour and a smooth, rounded character. Notes of honey, oak and vanilla lead the way, making it a gentle, sweet sipping tequila.
It is a true piece of folk art as well as a bottle of tequila, a striking centrepiece for a bar shelf and a memorable gift for collectors of Mexican craft.

Extra añejo is the most mature category of tequila, created in 2006 for tequilas aged more than three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres. The long rest softens the agave's natural pepper and brings out caramel, vanilla and dried fruit, which is why extra añejos are usually enjoyed neat, like a fine cognac or whisky.
