Don Ramón Platinum Añejo Cristalino is a 100% blue agave tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, double distilled, aged 12 months in American oak barrels and filtered to crystalline brilliance. It is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Its process begins by harmonizing the fermentation with classical music, a signature of the brand. After a year in American oak, the tequila is clarified to a clear color with a subtle straw hue, keeping the robust, silky, smooth profile of an añejo.
The nose is aromatic, with aged wood, toasted spices and roasted nuts. The palate is silky and robust, with layers of vanilla, cocoa, cinnamon and nutty sweetness.
Its faceted crystal-style bottle, presented in a black box, makes an elegant gift.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
